Experienced, or witnessed, trauma needs to be processed. The brain will do it for us in the form of nightmares, and reliving it, or we can use the brain on our own terms, to safely move from the constant bombardment of recall and its dominance in our lives.
Transition, Loss, or Gain
In normal development across the life-span, we cope with these on a regular basis. When we think about it, almost any experience can be put in terms of adjusting to change, a loss, or a gain... usually at the same time.
